Lenk-Simmental

In Summer

The Simmental is the home of the world renowned Simmental spotted cows. Tradition, folklore and the alpine culture are carefully cherished here. Some of the high points of the alpine summer are the Alpine Culture Days in Lenk with a huge Alp Festival as well as the return of the herds from the summer pastures in St. Stephan. The Simmental, in summer, is known as the valley of the waters and also as a hiking paradise. The source of the river Simme and the Iffig waterfall are famous natural wonders. There is so much for families in Lenk; the new Alp Culture Playground which is 7000 m2 in area , children’s animation programs and marmot and lynx trails.

In Winter

Enjoy the beauty of the Simmental on ski runs of varying difficulty, on a toboggan, with snow-shoes, doing dross-country skiing, at the ice rink, playing a game of curling or on one of the well prepared winter hiking trails. Lenk is allied with Adelboden to create the wintersport arena with the motto “Adelboden.Lenk . . .  think!”

The area has 72 transport systems and 210 km of ski runs. From St. Stephan one can get to the Ski Region Gstaad Mountain Rides. There are more  idyllic ski areas in the Simmental – just waiting for you; Boltigen-Jaunpass or the Rossberg in Oberwil for example. The Stockhorn is a favorite day trip destination with views over more than 200 alpine peaks or it can also be the starting point for ski or snow-shoe tours.
